Community Services is currently seeking a Maintenance Technician to
assume responsibility for the preservation of the overall condition
and functionality of our low barrier shelters. The Maintenance
Technician will be entrusted with a wide range of maintenance
tasks, encompassing activities such as painting, HVAC
installations, landscaping, and more. The ideal candidate for this
role is a dedicated professional with a practical mindset and
exceptional attention to detail. They should be capable of working
independently while adhering to stringent health and safety
protocols. The primary objective is to ensure that our buildings
and common areas remain in optimal condition. Essential Duties and
Responsibilities The essential responsibilities of the Maintenance
Technician role include, but are not limited to, the following:
Building Inspection and Mechanical System Maintenance: Thoroughly
assess buildings to identify and rectify mechanical systems that
may deviate from health and safety standards. Electrical Systems
Maintenance: Perform maintenance tasks on electrical systems, such
as replacing light bulbs and sockets, cleaning and repairing
circuit breaker panels, and ensuring their proper functioning.
Ventilation, Refrigeration, and System Setup: Assist in the
installation and setup of ventilation, refrigeration, and other
essential systems. Conduct necessary repairs to maintain their
functionality. Heating and Plumbing Systems Maintenance: Ensure the
continued functionality of heating and plumbing systems within the
premises. Alarm System Inspection: Regularly inspect alarm systems,
including fire and security systems, and schedule repairs as
required. Manual Repairs: Address manual repair needs, including
fixing locks, replacing windows, and similar tasks. Pest Control:
Perform pest control activities, such as insecticide spraying, to
maintain a pest-free environment. General Upkeep and Other Tasks:
Execute general upkeep procedures, such as landscaping, as well as
other assigned tasks, including painting and carpentry. Minimum
Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities) To be considered
for the Maintenance Technician role, candidates must possess the
following qualifications: Proven Experience: A track record of
successful experience as a maintenance technician is essential.
Understanding of Systems: Basic comprehension of electrical,
hydraulic, and other relevant systems is required. Maintenance
Knowledge: Knowledge of general maintenance processes and
methodologies is necessary. Tool Proficiency: Proficiency in using
common tools, appliances, and devices is expected. Manual Skills:
Excellent manual dexterity and problem-solving abilities are
critical. Physical Fitness: Good physical condition and strength,
along with a willingness to work overtime as needed, are
prerequisites. Educational Background: A high school diploma or
equivalent is mandatory. Possession of a certificate in HVAC,
building maintenance technology, or a related field will be
