Directs the provision of perioperative care in this service line while maintaining standards of patient care. Provides leadership and strategic vision to develop and operationalize standard processes related to surgical services. Collaborates with key leaders and departments to develop system goals, action plans and program evaluation.Principal Duties and Accountabilities:

  • Responsible for the overall quality (to include patient outcomes and effectiveness) of perioperative care provided across Dignity Health. Collaborates with key leaders and departments to develop system goals, action plans and program evaluation. Identifies opportunities for improvement and works with local teams to implement strategies to achieve desired results.
  • Drives standardization with a focus on reducing clinical variation where possible. Stays abreast of clinical program innovations through local, regional and national networking and acts as a subject matter expert within the system.
  • Monitors the operations of surgical services and ensures compliance with regulations on organizational and governmental standards and practices. Monitors patient outcomes and quality and effectiveness of surgical patient care and identifies opportunities for improvement.
  • Leads compliance initiatives on a system-wide basis and facilitates system implementation of such initiatives related to Surgical Services. Ensures compliance with regulations on organizational and governmental standards and practices.QualificationsEducation and Experience:
    • Master's degree in related field (e.g., MSN/MBA/MHA) from an accredited instution (degree will be verified) or medical degree (e.g. M.D./D.O.) with board certification in surgery or anesthesiology.
    • Minimum of Ten (10) years of successful and progressive experience in a health care system or hospital, providing or directing patient care activities within surgical services. Five (5) years of leadership experience managing a variety of patient care services in a complex surgical services/healthcare environment. Experience in directing other clinical areas, working closely with physicians, and developing clinical strategies, implementing operational efforts, and measuring outcomes.Licensure:
