About the Job:

The Associate Director for Residential Education assists with the overall planning related to residential education and campus engagement initiatives; manages multiple residential education community implementation teams; participates in the overall planning team and leadership of residential education including policy development, staff selection, program design and implementation of living learning experiences and academic success initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:
Guides staff; forms positive liaison relationships with a variety of university personnel on behalf of students and staff; serves on or chairs committees; significant budget and expenditure responsibility associated with implementation and continual improvement of learning communities;
Manages various co-curricular tasks including residence hall tutoring, publications, university-wide recruitment and outreach events and student educational travel experiences;
Serves as the departmental liaison with various offices including but not limited to Undergraduate Admissions, Bright Success Center, and Center for Career Advancement, School of Natural Sciences, Social Justice Initiative Office, and Undergraduate Education.
Manages various educational and academic support initiatives that integrate outside the classroom learning and/or retention efforts (tutoring, advising, and faculty-student interactive programming).
Supervises, trains, guides, and collaboratively evaluates professional and student staff.
Serves as advisor to student groups or Living Learning Communities Advisory, counsel s students on policies, procedures, and resources within Housing and Residence Life
Creates strong partnerships within the Division of Student Affairs and with other on-campus departments (Fiat Lux, School of Natural Sciences, and Social Justice Initiatives).
Assists with the development of appropriate assessment and evaluation processes for Housing and Residence Life program learning outcomes, residents level of satisfaction, and adherence to CAS Guidelines and develops recommendations for improvement, to ensure the program is in alignment with University and divisional vision and goals.



Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree and 3 years of directly related experience or 7 years equivalent related experience/training.

The successful candidate for this position will have demonstrated success in several areas, including:
o Residence Life practice, supervision and student development initiatives.
o Engagement with faculty and academic partners in a cocurricular capacity.
o Skilled in verbal and written communications with the ability to solicit new collaborators.

Demonstrated understanding and experience working with multi-ethnic student populations, diverse and inclusion program development.

Experience in student learning outcomes and assessment in residential education setting.

Experience working with living learning communities, or residential education curriculum.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master s Degree in Student Personnel Administration or a related field and five years post-graduate experience, or equivalent education and experience.

Experience advising student organizations.

Experience supervising professional staff.
