Deputy Director - Environmental Health Merced County Date Posted:January 23, 2023$113,380.80 - $137,966.40 AnnuallyDescription:The Deputy Director-Environmental Health is the managementclassification responsible for planning and directing theEnvironmental Health programs and functions of the County. Undergeneral direction, plan, organize, manage, direct, and supervisethe activities, programs, and services of the EnvironmentalHealth Division, including fiscal and personnel management,program planning and evaluation, public and political relations;represent department activities and programs with communityorganizations and other government agencies; and perform relatedwork as required. This is an at-will class under the direction ofand serves at the pleasure of the Community and EconomicDevelopment Director.Qualifications:Experience: At least five (5) years of experience in thedevelopment, analysis, and administration of environmental healthprograms and services. Two (2) years of the background andexperience must have been in a management or full supervisorycapacity. The experience will preferably have included work inthe areas of fiscal management, personnel management, programdevelopment, and grant administration. Education: Equivalent tograduation from college with a Bachelor's Degree in EnvironmentalHealth Sciences or closely related field. Completion of a MastersDegree in Public Health or closely related field may besubstituted for one (1) year of the required experience,excepting that it will not be substituted for requisitemanagement or supervisory experience. Licenses: Possession of avalid Environmental Health Specialist Registration issued by theState Department of Public Health. Possess a valid Californiadriver's license at time of appointment and maintain.
