Job Title: ICU Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Intensive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12 Hour Nights Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years License: Required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS Must-Have: - Strong IV skills - Comfort with full patient load and floating to different units - Familiarity with the ABCDE bundle and vent management Description: The ICU Registered Nurse will provide care to critically ill patients. Responsibilities include managing patients recovering from surgery, as well as common diagnoses such as sepsis, DKA, COPD, and GI bleeds. The nurse will be expected to float to telemetry and medical surgical floors, taking on a full patient load. Patient to nurse ratios in the ICU are 1 to 2. Charge nurses will serve as a resource and will not take patients. Nurses must read and interpret their own telemetry strips. The facility has a respiratory therapy team available 24/7. Pharmacy services are also available around the clock. Weekend requirements are two weekends every four weeks. Holidays involve working two out of three major holidays, with at least one holiday off for travelers. There is a high volume of backouts and declined offers, so travelers should be prepared to accept if offered a position. Travelers may also be deployed to care for boarded ICU patients in other areas.
