About the Job:

Level 2:
Under general supervision, the Research Administrator works directly with and provides support to faculty in the administration of extramural research funding; providing first level guidance for compliance on federal, state and institutional levels on Post-Award research administrative matters. The incumbent assists in the financial management of contract and grant funding, gift and other support funding and is the first-line, go-to person for PIs actions related to their research funding. Processes awards and transactions related to contract and grant management and maintains contract and grant records in compliance with institutional and research sponsor policies. Receives assignments on project basis and fully analyzes problems, gathers data and information, and recommends solutions.

Level 3:
The Research Administrator has a direct working relationship with the faculty in the administration of extramural research funding, as well as providing first level guidance for compliance on federal, state, and institutional levels on all research administrative matters. Specifically, the Research Administrator assists in the financial management of funding for mainly Contracts & Grants, as well as gift and other support and is the first line person for PIs actions related to their research funding. This position will independently process research awards and transactions and maintains C&G records in compliance with institutional research sponsor policies. Works on proposals of diverse scope where analysis of data requires thorough understanding of complex regulations.

Works on complex proposals that may involve multiple investigators and/or multiple sub-awards. Approves and completes transactions for signature by manager or other authorized institutional official. Acts as Lead Research Administrator and guides less experienced staff in managing funds and ensuring compliance to university and other agency policy.

*Note: The level at which this position is hired will be based on the qualifications of the incumbent.

Salary Ranges:
Level 2: $51,500 - $57,000
Level 3: $61,000 - $71,000



Qualifications:

Level 2 Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in related area and 1 year of progressively responsible related experience or equivalent experience/training.

Requires independent judgment and strong organization and communication skills and customer service focus.

Demonstrated knowledge of generally accepted accounting, fiscal and reporting principles.

Proficiency working with computer and information management systems.

Ability to perform moderately complex financial analysis and customized reporting.

Demonstrated competence in the use of spreadsheet and database software in financial analysis, fiscal management and financial reports.

Maintains current knowledge of compliance regulations in all areas of research administration.

Level 3 Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in related area and 3 years of progressively responsible related experience or equivalent experience/training.

Requires independent judgment and strong organization and communication skills and customer service focus across broad and diverse subject areas.

Maintains current knowledge of compliance regulations in all areas of research administration.

Requires thorough understanding of research administration guidelines of Federal and non-Federal sponsors supporting research and educational activities, preferably in a university environment.

Ability to manage significant volume of transactions.

Thoroughly knowledgeable in applicable compliance requirements related to use of human or animal subjects in research, financial conflict of interest, biosafety, et cetera.

Ability to translate technical/scientific concepts into a fundable proposal.
