The Associate Chief Operating Officer (ACOO), in conjunction
with the CMO, is responsible for assuring the establishment and
oversight of cost effective, high quality health care services
throughout GVHC. Working as a collaborative partner with the CMO,
the ACOO will provide analysis and recommendations to improve the
communication, clinical quality, operational and financial
performance across the organization. The ACOO will also represent
GVHC and/or the CMO in special programs and projects as needed.
Schedule is Monday – Friday, 8:00am – 5:00pm.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Oversees the functions of the Clinical Operations including both
medical, behavioral health and dental operations as well as the
direct supervision of the leads for these departments.
Assures the establishment, annual review and updating of
operational policies, procedures, in collaboration with the

Regional Medical Directors, and other designed clinical leadership
(such as the Director of Behavioral Health, and the Director of
Dental Services) to ensure responsive, efficient operations within
the clinic settings.
Collaboratively with operational and clinical leadership to
ensure appropriate staffing levels at each clinic including
providers, and support staff to support appropriate operation.
Works in conjunction with the Strategy department to ensure
appropriate analysis of business opportunities and coordinates with
internal and external partners to ensure successful transitions
Works with the operation leads to ensure contracted providers
have sufficient resources and staffing for successful clinical
Development of staff including the Directors of Operations and
the manager level leaders in the clinic.
Participates in the completion of grant applications and
deliverables such as New Access Point grants, Service Area
Competitions, and assumes responsibility for the operational
portion of these grants at the behest of the CMO.
In conjunction with the CMO, assists in the oversight and
management of grants, including the completion of deliverables,
reporting on outcomes etc.
Collaborates in recruiting activities within GVHC to ensure that
all new hires in operations shall be a good fit with the mission,
vision and values of the organization and have the necessary
requirements to fulfill his/her job duties.
Assists the CMO in ensuring the provision of high quality cost
efficient medical, dental and behavioral health services.
Collaborates with other directors and staff within the
organization to ensure the success of Compliance, Risk Management
and Quality improvement projects/programs
Assists with health plan relationships including capitation and
Membership discussions as well as pay for performance and other
health plan incentive programs and overall population health
Is an active participate for accreditation activities such as
TJC, PCMH, Meaningful Use, etc.
Actively participates in Compliance activities of the
organization and serves as the Operations Department’ leader for

the development of in-service training for staff.
Coordinates with billing to ensure all
coding/billing/documentation requirements are being met.
Explores collaborative working relationships and strategic
alliances with external members of the health care delivery system
as requested by the CMO.
In conjunction with the Directors of Operations, takes a lead
role in preparing and presenting at staff meetings.
Perform other duties by assigned by the CMO.
The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

and the ability to adjust focus.
The noise level in the work environment is usually average
Bachelor’s degree in related field plus a minimum of five (5)
years clinic/operations management experience or minimum nine (9)
years clinic/operations experience in lieu of degree.
Minimum three (3) years experience working in a health care
delivery system—preferably a multispecialty ambulatory care setting
Financial acumen including reading and interpreting financial
reports as well as financial forecasting required.
Valid California Driver’s License, vehicle insurance, and
acceptable driving record.
Ability to use and interpret data to make informed

Demonstrated success in past employment
History of staff and direct report development preferred.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a
high degree of tact and composure in dealing with patients and/or
