Applications will continue to be accepted until this date, but
those received after the review date will only be considered if the
position has not yet been filled.
A postdoctoral position is available in experimental fluid dynamics
in the Physics and Applied Mathematics Departments. The
postdoctoral researcher will be working jointly in the research
groups of Professors Shilpa Khatri
(https://sites.ucmerced.edu/khatri) and Dustin Kleckner
(https://faculty.ucmerced.edu/dkleckner/) and in the Multiscale
Ultrafast Volumetric Imaging (MUVI) Lab
(https://sites.ucmerced.edu/muvi). The position would entail
developing fluid-structure and multiphase flow experiments and
adapting three-dimensional imaging systems to be used to make
quantitative measurements on these experiments. Furthermore, the
applicant would be expected to collaborate closely with researchers
working on modeling and numerical simulations related to the
experiments. The position may involve participation in more than
one project, to be determined based on the applicant's skills and
interests. The successful candidate is also expected to collaborate
and mentor graduate and undergraduate students working on existing
Requirements include a PhD in Physics, Applied Math, or a related
field and experience with experimental techniques in Fluid
Dynamics. Preference is given to those with previously demonstrated
ability to work with and mentor junior members of the labs such as
graduate students and undergraduate students.
Interested applicants are required to submit 1) a cover letter, 2)
