Job Description

Purpose of Position:

To provide maintain facility security controls to protect employees, processing plant, all company property and assets from violations of federal, state and company rules and regulations.

Essential Job Functions:

Supervise assigned Foster Farms employees. Ensure appropriate scheduling and execute the departmental attendance policy. Ensure appropriate behavior through employee performance evaluation and corrective actions. Develop plans with HR regarding security staff performance, development, accommodation, hiring and discharge. Address all attendance issues (including daily KRONOS), as well, as job performance issues. Ensure appropriate scheduling.

Provide security contract administration oversight, interface with contractor to verify performance of service requirements and resolve customer issues/concerns.

Conduct internal audits, manage the audit programs and provide results to facility management or senior management, e.g. food defense, work place violence, security, DHS.

Manage, investigate, and record (using MICROSOFT products not just email) incidents, crimes, and accidents.

Assist emergency preparation and emergency response or action.

Assist HR with personnel investigations including fitness for duty, reasonable suspicion and violence free workplace.

Conduct background interview and determine hiring eligibility.

Conducts troubleshooting and monitoring of electronic Security systems

Provide assistance for management to execute the drug and alcohol testing program

Effectively train or arrange training for all assigned officers in order to accomplish assigned tasks.

Additional Functions:

Special projects or assignments as specified by the Corporate Manager of Risk and the Corporate Security Manager



Bachelors Degree and/or equivalent supervisor experience required

Must be at least 21 years of age

Must be able to obtain a license to carry a Concealed Weapon in California and must be able to obtain a California Tear Gas certification.

Prefer experience in Law Enforcement, Fire Department, Security or Military (with experience in personal security)

Ability to work flexible hours, varying shifts, weekends and holidays

Direct Supervisory experience, directing staff in a positive manner

Have a reliable means of communication (Phone, Cell Phone, E-Mail, etc.)

Have a reliable means of transportation, routine use of a personal vehicle is required in the performance of duties

Must be able to communicate clearly in English (written and verbal). Must be able to read and write with proficiency.

Ability to accept direction and responsibility

Must have an overall favorable employment record and attendance record

Must be able to work varying shifts, weekends and holidays as needed

Must be able to show up to work daily and be on time to perform the duties of the position.

Must be able to stand for prolonged periods of time (8-12 hours) on a concrete/metal grate floor

Must be able to walk for prolonged periods of time on concrete/pavement

Possess a valid State drivers license (issued by a state in the United States of America) and good driving record.

Must be eligible to legally work within the United States of America

Ability to pass a drug screening and ability to pass a criminal background check and obtain a Proprietary Security Officer License or comply with other State legal requirements (dependent upon the State where employed) for a licensed Security Officer or equivalent.

Physical and Mental demands are determined upon the specific job site, may be rural Ranchs or Plants.

Must be able to meet and continue to meet any applicable state, county, and municipal licensing requirements for Security Officers

Must be able to meet and continue to meet requirements for specific skills, certifications, or authorizations specified for the assignee site

Knowledge of security operations and procedures and knowledge of supervisory practices and procedures

Ability to supervise staff, including assigning work and providing training and have the ability to provide positive direction and motivate performance

Understanding of a variety of security and safety devices and controls

Ability to learn quickly and carry out instructions furnishing in written, oral, or diagrammed form

Ability to be an effective team member and have the ability to maintain professional composure when dealing with unusual circumstances

Courteous manner of behaving

Ability to adapt to changes in the external environment and organizations

Demonstrated proficiency in utilizing Microsoft programs, write reports, make presentations and work with databases. Microsoft Office understanding of essential programs, Keyboarding, basic computer usage and operating controls

Good organizational skills and required ability to handle multiple tasks concurrently

Strong customer service and results orientation

Demonstrated beginner level capability to monitor and troubleshoot electronic Security systems and have demonstrated ability to learn complex electronic systems.

Physical Requirements:

Maintaining composure in dealing with authorities, executives, clients, staff and the public, routinely under conditions of urgency and in pressure situations

Will be exposed to stressful situations such as challenging individuals who are in or approaching an unauthorized area

Seeing, hearing, speaking, and writing clearly in order to communicate with employees and clients, observe and report incidents, and direct others

Frequent sitting, standing and walking, which may be required for long periods of time, and may involve climbing stairs and walking up inclines and on uneven terrain

Walking, occasional reaching with your hands and arms, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling

Good eyesight (corrected) close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus

Ability to operate a company owned vehicle for the performance of duties

On occasion may be required to perform stressful and physical activities

May be exposed to inclement weather or be required to work in different types of environments depending upon duties

May be required to work under conditions that require the use of protective equipment and devices and/or awareness of personal safety and safety of others
