Fortis is searching for an experienced quality and continuous improvement professional for this new position!As the CI Specialist you will analyze existing production across sites to identify cost savings opportunities. This includes identification of under-performing accounts, product lines, or jobs where changes to layouts, materials, processes, or production equipment can yield improved profitability. Additionally, you will present your CI recommendations to the Director of CI, the regional Directors of Manufacturing, the local General Managers, Plant Managers, and Production Managers for approval. You will work with those individuals (and others) to implement the selected cost savings. As an CI Specialist you will also be called upon to coordinate with the Quality Leads at various sites to develop the best approach for quoting large RFP's. Highly qualified candidates will be data-driven, have at least 5-10 years of experience in the print or packaging industry, strong math and technical skills and possess knowledge of flexographic printing.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Utilize existing tools including Radius, Business Intelligence (BI), Label Traxx, and Shop Floor Data Collection (SFDC) to identify opportunities for cost savings.Work in concert with the Director of Cost Accounting to review customer margin data (Estimated vs. Actual) to determine specific focus areas for each site for profitability improvement opportunities. Present recommendations to the leadership team at the site and follow up to ensure implementation is achieved.Work in concert with the Quality team to identify the most cost-effective methods for common products. Review processes for existing business and prioritize opportunities for transition to lower cost substrates based on the cost savings potential.Identify opportunities to transition production to more efficient equipment or to utilize improved layouts (i.e. minimize edge trim, maximize # across, minimize label gaps).Provide suggested order pattern or quantity changes to customers to improve profitability and OTD.Review order patterns/quantities for newly acquired business, recently re-bid business, or underperforming business to ensure compliance with original estimates. Present recommendations to the leadership team at the site to address compliance issues and follow up to ensure implementation is achieved.Work with the Director of CI as well as the site E&P Leads to review customer RFPs and determine the most effective approach to quoting the business across sites.Maintain a tracking system for cost savings opportunities and report out on progress by plant each month.Evaluate requests and suggestions submitted for layout, substrate, or other specification changes. Determine cost and feasibility of changes and implement changes as needed.Support and/or coordinate trial requests for alternate materials, inks, coatings, dies, etc. to help drive cost savings implementations. Communicate with sales team and other internal departments regarding status of quotes and trials.Complete and maintain all required paperwork and electronic data (ie. Smart sheets, Radius, Label Traxx).Travel will be required to multiple FSG plants to identify cost savings opportunities and work with the local teams to implement improvements. Travel estimated at 40-50%.Additional duties as required.Requirements:Education and Experience:HS (GED) required.Associate or bachelors degree in business administration, math, or engineering is desirable but not required.Minimum 10-years of experience in the printing industry, preferably in an estimating or technical role with both flexo and offset equipment and workflow knowledge.Job Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Experience with EFI Radius strongly preferred. Label Traxx experience is a plus.Flexo, pressure sensitive, shrink sleeve, flexible packaging, sheetfed, and folding carton experience strongly preferred.Exceptional attention to detail.Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office proficiency. Advanced proficiency in Excel required including pivot tables.Strong written and verbal communication skills.Ability to communicate effectively with employees at all levels of the organization as well as outside contacts.Self-starter and effective leader of teams.Ability to multi-task and prioritize simultaneous projects.Flexibility to respond to changing needs and deadlines.Strong problem-solving capabilities and data driven mindset.Must have demonstrated proficiency using a system to estimate jobs / product cost and must have the ability to learn FSG software programs.Supervisory Responsibilities:NoneTraining Requirements:Willing to attend required training courses or sessions related to the job as assigned.
