ABOUT THE JOB
This is a two year assignment with the possibility of one 1-year
extension. The Facilities Project Coordinator will report to the
Assistant Director of Space Planning and Analysis. With regular
guidance, supports the management of minor and minor-capital design
and construction projects. Manages project reviews for conformance
to regulatory requirements and organization policies. Develops
project scope and schematic design based on programming needs, as
it pertains to the space plan, lighting, electrical/data,
furniture, fire and life safety etc. Drafts project charter and
develops and maintains project budgets.
1. Supports and assists project manager on renovation projects
starting with the design and programming phase, develops project
schedule, and building of preliminary budgets.
2. Interfaces and coordinates with other units, i.e.: Fire Marshal,
Building Inspectors, Building Managers, etc.
3. Coordinates vendors on site, includes meeting the furniture
installers, verifying delivery tickets, and signing off on
4. Reviews drawings for conformance to regulatory requirements and
organization policies incorporating knowledge of current building
5. Creates and/or updates building evacuation maps along with
building and maintaining room number matrices for existing and new
6. Conducts spaces studies for project programs. Drafts 2D
furniture plans and space plans
- Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Interior Design or related
area AND 1-2 years relevant experience OR 7 years of equivalent
experience / training.
- Knowledge of building and construction, design, construction
contract administration and California Building Codes.
- Skills to develop project scope and drawings. Must be able to
independently read and interpret construction drawings.
- Strong computer application skills including AutoCAD (2D
drafting), BlueBeam, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project,
and Adobe Illustrator.
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills,
including effective negotiation skills.
- Good organizational and analytical skills. Detail oriented to
accurately analyze data as it relates to space use and budgets.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple vendors and maintain
compliance to the agreed-upon scope of work and budget.
- Significant customer service experience.
